Abstract(in English) | In photonic transport networks, highly spectrally efficient modulation formats are required to meet the demands imposed by the network traffic increase. However high order Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) has smaller minimum Euclidean distance than Quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK), and needs higher receiver sensitivity which is determined by the minimum Euclidean distance. Recently multi-dimensional modulation formats are attractive because of its large minimum Euclidean distance. In this report, we propose configuration of optical 8-Dimensional Time-Polarization Modulation format using square QAM constellation for digital coherent transmission. In addition we experimentally and numerically demonstrate basic characterization of the format. |
