Method for Designing Encoding Parameters of Panorama Video Using Statistic Data of ROI

Abstract(in English) Panorama video, especially with 360-degree view-angle, can provide its users with immersive experience by head-mounted displays recently affordable for consumers. Because this type of video has huge amount of data with high-resolution and wide view-angle, streaming the data through a limited bandwidth has been remained a problem. In this article, we propose the novel method that optimizes encoding of panorama video according to statistic data of region-of-interest observed by multiple users. The idea is exploiting ROI information not only for QOE of individual users but for that of all users. The positive results are suggested by subjective evaluation experiments comparing the data by normal encoding with that by optimization using ROI log data.
