Abstract(in English) Bi substituted rare-earth iron garnets are attracting great attentions as the material of the magneto-optical devices such as the spatial light modulator because of its huge MO effect. In addition, for the applications, magnetic anisotropies that are suitable for those applications are necessary.. In this study, we investigated Nd0.5Bi2.5Fe5-yGayO12 (y = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) thin films prepared on glass substrates by MOD method. The magnetic anisotropy of Nd0.5Bi2.5Fe5-yGayO12 thin films exhibiting the large Faraday effect was controlled by varying Ga content.
