Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | An Yes/No communication aid “Kokoro Gatari (KG)” for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) patients with no body movements uses cerebral blood volume changes measured with near-infrared light. Research on its improvement such as probes, Yes/No judgment programs, etc. has been integrated into a prototype “New Kokoro Gatari (NKG)”. A substantiative experiment for 18 ALS patients has shown that average accuracy rate of NKG is 80.5% while KG is 59.3% (significant with 0.1% significant level), which has satisfied the goal of increase rate in accuracy by more than 20%. The most effective factor is analyzed and it is found the exchange of judge lines gives increase in accuracy rate by 13%. |
