Fast Statistical Image Reconstruction Method Using Filtered-Backprojection-Type Preconditioning

Abstract(in English) Statistical image reconstruction can take the statistical nature of the noise in to account. However, it requires enormous computational cost, because the iterative computation is necessary and its convergence is slow. Therefore, faster convergent methods have become important recently. For example, preconditioning technique is one of them. Since the conventional preconditioning methods perform convolution using high-pass filters on the image space, its computational cost per iteration is significantly increased. In this paper, we propose a new method using filtered-backprojection-type preconditioning, based on the duality of nonlinear programming problem. This method perform the preconditioning projection space, accordingly, the computational cost is lower compared with the conventional image space preconditioned methods.
