A High-Precision and High-Efficiency Networked Control System Using Dynamic Send Data Selection

Abstract(in English) Networked control systems (NCSs) enabling remote actuator control have been achieved with the development of the Internet. However, it remains a problem that the power consumption in information and communication devices is increasing. In addition, time delays and packet losses in NCSs cause performance degradation and destabilization of the systems. Therefore, the reduction of communication traffic with send data selection between a controller and a plant is important. The send data selection can avoid serious congestion in the NCSs, and achieve power saving of the transceivers in the controllers and plants. This paper proposes a high-precision and high-efficiency send data selection method. The proposed method dynamically determines transmission conditions according to error signals. Simulations and experiments are performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed method with respect to traffic reduction and control performance.
