Abstract(in English) This study investigated the influence of spatial attention to motion in peripheral visual field on OKN. OKN was measured when observers attended to a motion stimulus with constant velocity presented to a specific area in the visual field with the fixation point at the center of the display. The stimulus consisted of random dots and squares. The direction of motion in the attended area and that in the unattended area were always opposite each other. Observers responded the number of targets superimposed on the attended area in the stimulus to maintain the attention on it. The results indicated that OKN occurred according to the motion in the attending area independent of the motion at the fixation. These results suggest that attention enhances the occurrence of OKN to stabilize the retinal image and acquire information relevant to the observer.
