Initial Cell Search Time Performance of Cell Search Method Based on Frequency Offset Estimation for Macrocell in Heterogeneous Networks

Abstract(in English) This paper presents system-level simulation results on initial cell search time performance of the cell search method based on frequency offset estimation for Long Term Evolution (LTE) heterogeneous networks using separate frequency spectrum between a macrocell and a small cell. In the previously proposed cell search method, the received timing of a primary synchronization signal (PSS) for a small cell is estimated after compensating the frequency offset which is estimated by employing the partial correlation of a PSS for a macrocell. System-level simulation results show that by using the cell search method, the initial cell search time to achieve the cell ID detection probability of 95 % is within approximately 100 ms for the carrier frequency of a small cell up to 7 GHz or 11 GHz assuming the frequency error of 3 ppm or 1 ppm for a Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) of a user equipment.
