[Fellow Memorial Lecture] Linear Passive Reciprocal Two-Port Systems as Viewed from kQ Product Perspective

Abstract(in English) Two-port systems are often evaluated in terms of S parameters. They well express the system's transfer function, but depend on the measurement instrument reference impedance. We need an invariant pilotage for performance estimation. This paper presents kQ product concept for linear passive reciprocal two-port systems. Two simple examples are given, i.e., capacitor network and transformer. We introduce coupling coefficient k and two-port Q factor for performance indices. They are taken into account to define kQ product as unified figure of merit. Finally shown is a versatile formula to predict kQ product from S or Z parameters of the system.
