A Study on Inter-flow Network Coding with Passive ACK for Efficient and Reliable Bidirectional Communication

Abstract(in English) In wireless multihop bidirectional communication environment, there is a possibility that packet collision and retransmission owing to the hidden node problem decrease efficiency of radio resource usage and the collection ratio. The goal of this study is to achieve efficient and reliable packet transmission in such environment. We have already proposed the inter-flow network coding with passive ACK (IFNCPA), as a packet transmission scheme, which combines inter-flow network coding (IFNC) with passive ACK, and and confirmed the efficiency by simulations. However, discussion on optimal waiting time for encoding and dealing with the collision of passive ACK was insufficient. In this paper, we improve IFNCPA by adding timing control for passive ACK to avoid collision of passive ACKs and investigate not only its effect but also how waiting time for encode impacts performance measures such as collection ratio and end-to-end delay by simulations.
