Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Sign authentication is one of behavioral biometrics. Advantages of the sign authentication are small load of users and utility of touch panel usually installed in smartphones. However, while using sign authentication on smartphones, there are some problems such as limitations on touch panel’s area, required time and user’s trouble for writing complicated characters. Therefore, sign authentication with simple symbol which can easily use on small touch panel, e.g. the pattern-lock, is preferred and widely used. In this study, for the purpose of realizing easy sign authentication with simple symbol on smartphones, we proposed to adapt centripetal acceleration to feature parameter for sign authentication and investigated individuality of time series centripetal acceleration data in writing symbols. We develop smartphone application software for sign collection. Three dimensional histograms for centripetal acceleration and angle are used for verification. As a result, we achieved 72.8% verification rate by sign authentication with common symbol “3” to 5 persons. It is found that the time series centripetal acceleration has individuality.
