[Special Talk] Standardization Trends on Wireless LAN

Abstract(in English) As rapid popularization of smartphones and rich contents, new standards are being discussed to achieve higher throughput and improve user experience. In the IEEE802.11 Working Group, the IEEE802.11ax is focusing on realizing higher area-throughput especially in densely deployed areas. In addition, the IEEE802.11ay is discussing enhancement of the IEEE802.11ad to achieve 20Gbps at MAC SAP, and the Next Generation Positioning Study Group (NGP-SG) is discussing technologies to realize location estimation in indoor environments with estimation error smaller than 0.1m. Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) is creating guidelines and specifications to enable roaming among Wi-Fi operators. In this paper, we summarized current standardization trends on Wireless LAN, cellular and Wireless LAN interworking technologies, and technologies to improve user experience in Wireless LAN.
