Abstract(in English) | We fabricate a novel optical biosensor based on a silicon microring resonator-loaded enhanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MRR-MZI). The microring without an upper cladding SiO2 layer is a sensing section and the change in equivalent refractive index of the waveguide is converted to the change in transmittance of light. Its sensing characteristics is investigated using ethanol solutions (concentration:0-3.0wt%) and avidin/biotin solution. The MRR-MZI has higher sensitivity than a single MRR sensor, and avidin with the concentration as low as 200 pM is successfully sensed by the MRR-MZI. The results show that the MRR-MZI sensor is promising for sensing of protein. |
