Fault Analysis for a Lightweight Block Cipher TWINE and its Evaluation using FPGA

Abstract(in English) The security for automotive is very important, because automotive system performs road-to-vehicle and inter-vehicle communication. To guarantee the security of automotive system, encryption of communications is required. Lightweight block ciphers which can be implemented on small area have attracted attention since automotive system has area constraint. Regarding the security of cryptographic system, the threat of fault analysis which analyzes the confidential information illegally has pointed out. To evaluate the safety of automotive system in the future, the research of fault analysis for a lightweight block cipher is important. This study proposes a new fault analysis for TWINE which is one of the most popular lightweight block ciphers. Experiments using a FPGA prove the validity of the proposed method.
