Abstract(in English) NHK has been studying the 8K Super Hi-Vision (8K SHV) technology for practical use. 8K SHV satellite test broadcasting is planned to start in 2016 and full broadcasting by 2018. Meanwhile, we also study the technology that can transmit a large volume contents such as 8K SHV for next generation of digital terrestrial broadcasting. One of the important topics of this study is forward error correction (FEC), and we try to develop more robust FEC code than conventional one in order to improve the degradation with expanding the transmission capacity. It is known that spatially coupled LDPC (SC-LDPC) code can design parity-check matrices with very long code length easier than conventional LDPC code. In this paper, we report the verification of performance of the SC-LDPC code that will be applied for next generation of terrestrial broadcasting.
