Automatic Impedance Matching Technique by Using Air-Variable Capacitor for 6.78MHz-Band WPT System

Abstract(in English) For practical application of WPT, it is necessary to reduce a mismatch loss when relative positions of resonators are changed. To reduce the mismatch loss, the authors propose a novel system comprising C-coupled balun and automatic impedance matching technique. In the paper, comparison between C-coupled balun and M-coupled method using loop coil is described. Further, it is shown that mismatch loss of WPT system can be reduced by C-coupled balun, the capacitances of which are controlled by automatic impedance matching circuit. An experimental system equipped with C-coupled balun comprising air-variable capacitors and automatic impedance matching circuit was fabricated. The effectiveness was confirmed by experiments.
