On Resource Estimation Method Preventing Degradation of Waiting Time of User in Virtualized EPC

Abstract(in English) As Long Term Evolution (LTE) develops, mobile devices start to use various kinds of the applications. Nowadays, the burst traffic of signaling messages caused by the background action in the applications generates the congestion of EPC (Evolved Packet Core : core system accommodating LTE). Then, the mobile devices spend much time on initiating the communications. To solve the problem, the virtualization technology is considered as the one approach. We can suppress the congestion of EPC by utilizing auto-scale mechanism which increases the number of the facility having the role of one network function according to the situation of the communications. However, the number of the facility which can have the network function is limited. Therefore, it is essential to estimate the proper number of the facility required to suppress the congestion in order to effectively utilize the facility at a maximum. We propose and evaluate the method to estimate the proper number of the facility, when the auto-scale mechanism is introduced in the virtualized EPC. The evaluation shows that the proposed method can estimate the proper number of the facility in order not to delay the communication initiation of the mobile devices.
