Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The bend in a pair of differential lines on printed circuit boards causes the path difference, which leads to mode conversion caused by the phase difference. We have so far proposed a tightly coupled asymmetrically tapered bend structure to prevent the degradation of transmission characteristics. In this paper, the design methodology of the tightly coupled asymmetrically tapered bend structure was investigated to limit in within the original classic bend for high-density mounting. Also, the right-angled bend formed based on the design methodology was also evaluated and was found to reduce mode conversion by approximately 40 dB and differential-mode reflection by approximately 15 dB compared to the classic bend structure. Furthermore, the proposed bend is just fit to the classic bend structure and provides similar or excellent characteristics in mode conversion and differential-mode reflection compared with different bend structures proposed by other references.
