A Study of Positioning System with Wireless Synchronization Technique

Abstract(in English) Indoor localization systems with ICT (Information and Communication Technology) are expected to expand markets and being developped actively. However, precise location systems have an initial cost problem due to cabling for synchronizing infrastructure devices. In this paper, we propose an indoor localization system, which realizes precise localization and lower initial cost by applying our wireless synchronization technique. In the proposed system, localization nodes equip a sonic receiver and a wireless LAN module. Then, localization nodes can do time synchronization and communication with the wireless LAN. Each localization node detects sonic wave from a localization target and sends the time of detection to a localization server. The localization server carries out localization calcuration with the times of detection. We prototyped the proposed system and measured the localization precision. Then the system achieved 200 mm localization error on average. We show the proposed system architecture, prototyping and measurement results.
