A Study on Solvers for the Nonlinear Eigen-value Problem in the Multipole Method for Electromagnetic Waveguide Eigen-value Problems

Abstract(in English) A multipole method for propagation characteristic analyses of electromagnetic waveguides results in a nonlinear eigen-value problem(NEP) whose eigen-values are propagation constants. We examined the Sakurai-Sugiura projection method(SSM) as a solver of the NEP. Comparing with numerical results of the SSM and a downhill simplex method for the NEP of a holey fiber showed the usefulness of the SSM.
