Design of Crosstalk-Free Polarization Splitter Based on Square Lattice Single Polarization Photonic Crystal Fibers

Abstract(in English) A lot of optical devices have been investigated based on photonic crystal fibers (PCFs), because of their many excellent properties. Single polarization transmission is one of the most interesting properties of PCFs, so we propose a novel L-type polarization splitter (PS) with three cores, which is based on square lattice single polarization PCFs (SP-PCFs). We employed the vectorial finite element method (VFEM) and finite element beam propagation method (FE-BPM) as the analysis methods. The coupling efficiency up to almost $100%$ for the $x-$ and $y-$polarization channels are confirmed by VFEM, and we also simulated the light propagation behavior in our PS by using FE-BPM, when a 45-degree polarized incident light is inputted. The results show that the incident light can be completely split into two orthogonal polarizations without any crosstalk. In addition, we also demonstrated structural tolerance and wavelength dependence of the designed PS.
