Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Sensor nodes and communications become more and more important factors in IoT applications, including autonomous car systems. CMOS scaling has been the fundamental reason to have accomplished nowadays Internet applications, resulting from digital ICs with high-performance, low-power, small-size and low-cost without any tradeoffs among them. Thus, as well as the digital ICs, improvement of IoT/autonomous-car applications requires such analog interface circuits, which can be implemented with digital methods, i.e., scalability. This paper presents the all-digital time-domain analog-to-digital converter TAD (Time A/D converter) with examples of the R&D-results and commercial-products. Then, challenges and potentials of TAD methods are introduced. Finally, some proposals of TAD-research are presented.
