Abstract(in English) TCAM (Ternary Content Addressable Memory) is widely used as a search hardware for high speed table lookups. However, TCAM is difficult to increase capacity for the future networks due to its nature of power consumption, cost, and chip area. In this paper, we propose a multi-dimensional search hardware that can accommodate a large table that stores wide and sparse rules. The proposed hardware is specialized for searching a binary values, and possible to be composed to multi-dimensional search engines with TCAM. We implement the proposed hardware prototype on FPGA, and Then evaluate its search performance and power consumption by comparing with existing search hardwares.
