A Study of LOS Rate Definition for Sloping Terrain Correction Equation in Urban Path Loss Estimation Formula

Abstract(in English) As one of the effective path loss estimation method for small sloping area, the elevation angle correction method is proposed and studying to improve the estimation accuracy. Recently, LOS (line of sight) rate in sloping area plays an important role to improve the estimation accuracy. In this paper, therefore, LOS rate without measurement data is studied by using meshed map data. Since the point of interest on parallel road to the main beam direction of base station antenna is relatively in the line of sight area and that of on perpendicular road to the main beam direction is relatively in the non-line of sight area, the ratio of point of interest number on the parallel and perpendicular roads is considered to express the LOS rate in the sloping area. Furthermore, considering the ratio of the average and peak values on parallel and perpendicular roads, a measure corresponding to the LOS rate is introduced for more adequate LOS rate expression. The result shows, the introduced value expresses non-LOS and LOS situations in sloping areas very well.
