Security Evaluation for Leakage of a Fingerprint Image from USB-Based Fingerprint Authentication Systems

Abstract(in English) The growing availability of fingerprint authentication systems has resulted in a drop in their price, and their increased accessibility by ordinary people. This study evaluated the security parameters on 15 USB-based fingerprint authentication products that anyone can easily buy on the Internet. 12 of these products were vulnerable to fingerprint leakage. Investigation into the correlation of product vulnerability with manufacturing year and price showed that the manufacturing year and prices were not correlated with vulnerability.
