Practical use of Bone Conduction technology on the navigation system for visuall y impaired person

Abstract(in English) The voice navigation system is well known as a useful tool for the visually impaired. The drawback of existing systems is that they require filling at least one of two ears, which is often dangerous for them. Our proposed system is based on the bone-conduction device enabling us to circumvent the problem. The subjective listening test was conducted to evaluate the proposed system with respect to the human intelligibility of words under the ambient noise. The results show no significant difference from the air-conduction device given that the power and the frequency characteristics are equalized to sound similar.
