Study for Space Applications of Non-Contact Connector

Abstract(in English) The data processing rate for earth observation satellites is increasing due to the enhanced development of observation sensors and is projected to become more than 10 Gbits/s in the near future. Japan AerospaceExploration Agency (JAXA) has developed data handling components for space applications. However, wired connections, such as connectors or wiring, are approaching their limits due to issues such as increased loss by the shift of impedance and the complication of systems ensued by the increase in parts and wires to accommodate higher speeds. Therefore, we focused our efforts on Transmission Line Copulers (TLC) and studied to materialize 10Gbps class data handling processors. In this paper, we show the effects of space applications using TLC, and its experimental results.
