Abstract(in English) | Active constellation extension is a peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction scheme for orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, which controls the PAPR by projecting clipping noises caused by clipping and filtering (CAF) onto outside of the constellation, so as to preserve the minimum Euclidean distance. However, unlike CAF, it in turn causes an increase of average power. So far, most works on ACE have focused on the PAPR reduction capability and its uncoded bit error rate (BER) performance, and they have claimed that the degradation of BER is negligible, without making any sufficient reasoning as well as performance comparison with other PAPR reduction methods. In this work, we investigate the coded performance of the ACE in terms of mutual information and BER employing turbo coding. It reveals that the simple CAF may outperform the ACE in such a more practical scenario. |
