Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The present work examines an indoor, BLE beacon-based guidance systems that, when completed, holds the promise of truly accurate geographical positioning. At first, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) is measured in smartphones, and the distance between the beacon and smartphone is estimated, based on its strength. Regarding signal strength, the degree of positioning error depends on the circumstances resulting from microwave reflection, or scattering. To prevent such interferences, we place the BLE beacon in a micro wave absorbing material to form a directional transmitter. In our experiments, we first measured signal strength in an anechoic chamber, to prevent interference; this according to the distance between the beacon and the smartphone; (1m~ 5 m). We then, repeated the measurements in a laboratory setting. Results were compared with a mathematical estimation formula. As a result, the measured values ware matched with the formula from up to 3m. Moreover, when using the absorbent material, the decrease in signal strength was greater than 12.5dBm, when the beacons were placed 2 meters apart.
