Application of Microwave Absorption/Transmission Switchable Surface to Radome

Abstract(in English) A switchable surface which can switch between a radar absorber and transmission surface was fabricated and evaluated. The surface was applied to a radome of an patch array antenna. The absorption of the surface switched as a radar absorber was measured of 17 dB. On the other hand, the transmission coefficient of that switched as a transmission surface was measured of -0.3 dB. Moreover, the surface switched as a transmission surface was applied to the radome of the patch array. The distance between the antenna and the radome affected to the gain. The gain and the radiation pattern of the patch array with the radome was equivalent to that without the radome.
