Image Edge-Preserving Smoothing Realized by Local Gradient Space Processing

Abstract(in English) In the gradient-domain image processing technique, filtering functions such as edge-preserving smoothing, line structure extraction/deletion and so on are realized by modifying image gradients and reconstructing the image from the gradients. However, this technique requires a lot of memories for the calculations and is time consuming. To cope with the problems, we propose a new edge-preserving smoothing filter introducing the local gradient-domain processing in this report. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by some experiments.
