Abstract(in English) The convergent property of aperture fields and the behavior of the fields near the edges are examined by using the exact solution of the plane wave diffraction by a rectangular hole in a thick conducting screen by means of the Kobayashi potential (KP). We also derive a useful formula for predicting the screen thickness that brings the strong power transmission (the $n$th peak value) resulting from the TE$_{10}$ mode, which is based on the concept of the plane-wave decomposition of waveguide modes and multiple reflection for the plane waves.
