Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes results of relay connection test using a single frequency channel relay system in NLoS (Non-Line-of-Sight) environment of VHF (Very High Frequency) band in the rural areas (mountain area). We performed field test using wireless equipment based on ARIB STD-T103 OFDMA system for an extraordinary radio line construction in the event of a disaster. In the disaster scenario, the antenna height should be restricted to several meters and radio propagation environment tends to be NLoS, since the system should be swiftly deployed in limited locations. The system using in this test is possible to connect for longer distance by utilizing a radio wave propagation characteristics of the VHF band in NLoS environment, and to realize a more long-distance communication by relay connection. In this test, we confirmed that the broadband transmission between two locations with 6.2 km by a two-hop relay connection (greater than 500 kbps) is possible. In addition, we demonstrated a video transmission that monitors a natural dam generated by river blockage emergency construction site caused by typhoon between Gojo Oto-cho Akatani and Sarutani dam management branch by the relay connection.
