Abstract(in English) | This paper discusses channel sounders for underwater acoustic communications (UWAC), which estimate channel impulse response (CIR), using commercial electric acoustic equipment. Although transmission channel models are inevitable in performance evaluation of wireless communications, there are a few reports on channel models for UWAC. In order to obtain channel models for acoustic communications, channel sounders play important roles. Thus, if channel sounders can be realized by commercial electric acoustic equipment, it is easy to sound CIR of UWAC. The features of the proposed acoustic channel sounders are as follows: 1) frequency distortion due to commercial electric acoustic equipment is compensated by pre-coding; 2) frequency deviation between transmit and receive functions are compensated by re-samplers; 3) side-lobes due to correlation of M sequence, which is used to estimate CIR, are cancelled by side-lobe cancellers with low computational complexity. Finally this paper evaluates performance of the proposed channel sounders for UWAC by hardware experimental results. |
