Analysis of Energy Harvesting Relay Selection Using Channel Distribution Information

Abstract(in English) Energy harvesting cooperative communication has been proposed, which enables to relay the received signals while recharging its own battery by harvesting ambient energy to avoid out-of-battery. When the channel state information (CSI) is available at the EH relays, the diversity order equal to the number of relays can be achieved by selecting the {em best} relay in terms of both the residual battery and the outage probability. However, to obtain the perfect CSI at the relays, every relay has to ideally estimate the corresponding CSI from the pilot signal transmitted by the destination or the CSI feedback from the destination to relays is necessary. In this paper, we propose a new EH relay selection scheme considering both the residual battery and channel distribution information (CDI). The outage probability of proposed relay selection is theoretically analyzed. Furthermore, the achievable diversity order of the proposed approach is also studied.
