A Study of Algorithm for Mitigating Large-Scale DDoS Attacks based on the Available Bandwidth

Abstract(in English) In case that ISPs detect a massive DDoS attack against a specifit destination IP address, they usually forward the DDoS traffice to DDoS mitigation appliances and mitigate it. On the other hand, considering large-scale DDoS attacks which occur recently, the traffic to DDoS mitigation appliances may congest network links and affect other communication services. In this paper, in order to avoid link congestion, we propose a new routing method, which distributes the DDoS traffic to multiple paths, and we propose an algorithm for rapidly calculating the paths to transfer the traffic and the traffic volume transferred through each path. Then we evaluate the effectiveness of our algorithm.
