Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | A large number of battery-driven sensor nodes are deployed to operate a wireless sensor network, and thus power saving of nodes is a problem of vital significance. In order to reduce energy consumption, many routing methods are proposed such as star, chain, cluster, and tree. We have previously formulated the energy consumption in each topology, and determined the best topology for power saving depending on the number of nodes, the network size and the data aggregation effect. However, there is no consideration of packet retransmission caused by packet loss. In this report, we simulate the energy consumption for each network topology and invest the most energy-efficient topology, considering the packet loss as packet collision and link quality. The packet collision model adopts slotted ALOHA as a random access method, and calculates the average numbers of transmission/reception according to the number of competing nodes. Meanwhile, the link quality model assumes the environment where the received power at each node fluctuates due to fading. Simulation results show that the energy consumption for each topology varies according to the presence of collision and interference, which makes a difference in the optimal topology. |
