Ultra-Compact Narrow Linewidth Laser Source with Optical Negative Feedback

Abstract(in English) We propose and demonstrate an ultra-compact narrow linewidth laser source by applying a coherent optical negative feedback method, which requires only an external optical filter. Numerical analyses indicate that the spectral linewidth of a semiconductor laser can be reduced from 10 MHz to 874 Hz using the method. We also experimentally confirm that the spectral linewidth of a single-mode semiconductor laser is reduced from 6.4 MHz to 6.5 kHz (reduction ratio: 30 dB).
