Development of Underground Ultra High Density Cable with Rollable Optical Fiber Ribbon

Abstract(in English) We have developed an ultra-high density optical fiber cable for the underground area of the optical network that can be installed in the existing cable duct. This cable has the outer diameter that is equal to a conventional 1000-fiber cable, moreover 2000 optical fibers are packaged. Using the 8-fiber rollable optical fiber ribbon, we have confirmed that this cable keeps up the quality of conventional cable while achieving the multi fibers fusion splicing, as well as the handling and high densification of optical fiber.
