Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Image and video restoration is to recover the high-quality (HQ) image/video from low-quality (LQ) one due to the possible blurring during imaging procedure, which needs to firstly estimate the blurring function, also called kernel function. The conventional approaches generally assume the kernel function can be approximated by mathematical formula such as Gaussian function, which can only deal with the limited case such as only the focal blurring. This study proposes a nonparameteric approach to estimate the kernel function produced by any type of blurring procedure via adding constraint with L1 norm on kernel. In addition, normalized sparsity measure is proposed as the prior constraint of the estimated HQ image for achieving accurate kernel. Furthermore, considering both temporal and spatial gradient constraint into video restoration procedure, we validate the promising HQ video can be achieved.
