Abstract(in English) A broadband near-infrared light source based on self-assembled InAs quantum dots (QDs) with controlled emission wavelengths was developed for optical coherence tomography (OCT). A current-driven light source including four layers of QDs with different emission wavelengths exhibits a broadband (85-nm-bandwidth) emission centered at approximately 1.2μm with a Gaussian-like spectral shape at room temperature. The axial resolution estimated by a coherence function obtained from the EL spectrum was approximately 6.5 μm in air and no apparent side lobes appeared beside a peak of the coherence function, indicating the effectiveness of the QD based light source for high-resolution, noise-reduced OCT imaging.
