Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For various types of applications such as head-up/-mounted displays, contactless communications, and vehicle sensing devices, high-speed and small laser beam steering are important to lead further developments. Here, we show the controllability of output beam directions two dimensionally by using photonic-crystal lasers which possess the positions of photonic-crystal air-holes are periodically modulated. By changing the position modulation direction, we also show the polarizations of out-put beams can control. Furthermore, we demonstrate the two-dimensional beam steering with the arrayed electrode structure. Such lasers enable us to implement completely new beam-scanning laser-systems, which do not require any mechanical elements and have very fast scanning speed.
