A Performance Evaluation of Interference Suppression Schemes for Radio over Optical On-Off Keying System

Abstract(in English) A simultaneous transmission scheme for both 10 Gbps optical on-off keying (OOK) signal and radio frequency (RF) signal is proposed to save optical fibers and optical sources. The proposed system can use the existing Ethernet devices by using optical OOK signal of Ethernet as also a light source of radio over fiber (RoF) transmission. The theoretical analysis and the experiment found that the OOK signal interferes the RF signal. Interference suppression schemes for improving the RF signal quality is proposed and evaluated by power spectrum and EVM (error vector magnitude) calculated from computer simulation.
