Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | High-speed photography is a powerful tool for analyzing and understanding various types of dynamics. However the photographing speed of conventional high-speed cameras faces significant limitation resulting from their mechanical or electrical processing. Here we have developed a high-speed imaging method, known as sequentially timed all-optical mapping photography (STAMP), which allows us to take motion pictures of ultrafast phenomena in a single shot. The STAMP’s all-optical operation based on the spatiotemporal dispersion of an ultrafast laser pulse overcomes limitations of conventional mechanical or electrical cameras. To show the utility of the STAMP camera, we used it to obtain movies of plasma dynamics and lattice vibrational waves. |
