Frequency Domain aware Power Analysis based on Two Steps Hierarchal Alignment Method

Abstract(in English) The thread of side-channel attacks is pointed out in recently times. Side-channel attacks utilize power consumption or electromagnetic waveform during cryptographic circuit operated to analyze illegally confidential information. Therefore, countermeasures against side-channel attacks have been reported. LSI using clock variation mechanism generates a gap of time axis by variation of clock cycle, has tamper resistance against side-channel attacks. However, the alignment analysis which corrects the gap in time axis invalidates the tamper resistance. On the other hand, it has been reported power analysis in frequency domain achieves high accuracy in comparison with that in time domain. This study proposes a new alignment power analysis. The proposed method performed alignment power analysis in frequency domain. Experiments proved the validity of the proposed method.
