| Abstract(in English) | This paper proposes a virtual Base Station (vBS) migration technique, namely "vBS on the Move", for continually providing the service-specific connectivity for nomadic terminals while the terminals move through a WiFi network. WiFi network virtualization is developed as a key solution technology for controlling the connectivity of a target service in a WiFi network, where a service-specific vBS is created around the terminals to which BS resources dedicated to the target service are assigned. However, WiFi essentially lacks the location management mechanism and it is still an open issue to dynamically configure the vBS at a new location, following terminals' nomadic mobility. The proposed technique realizes vBS on the Move by introducing the new mobility management function in a WiFi network, which tracks terminals' locations and temporarily preserves the vBS states for future reorganization. The function model, the principle of the vBS on the Move, the experimental system, and the initial experimental result are presented in this paper. |
