Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Constructing virtual networks using both virtual switches and IP tunnels is increasingly spread in datacenters providing multi-tenant service. We have proposed Virtual Switch Extension (VSE) that adaptively selects CPU cores for packet processing on a physical server. We focused on the throughput of IPsec communication which was heavy packet processing when the number of virtual machines was lower than that of CPU cores. However,we have not sufficiently evaluated CPU resource assignment with the low-loaded protocol when the physical server had a lot of VM, and also overheads of VSE processing. In this paper, we validate the valid number of flow entries and its own overheads using a dedicated hardware. In addition, we evaluate the fundamental performance of four CPU assignment models in virtual networks and validate optimal models for priority flows. From evaluation results, VSE’s overheads can be negligible and 10∼50 entries are valid in VSE’s flow table. Moreover, applying an appropriate model for the priority flow improved the throughput by 24% compared with RSS when the physical server had a lot of VM.
