Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This research introduces an innovative Reinforcement Learning (RL) approach tailored for autonomous driving systems, termed Personalized Perceived Safety Shielding (PPSS). This method dynamically adjusts to individual safety preferences by analyzing real-world driving data to establish custom safety distances for each driver. PPSS’s impact is evidenced by increased congruence in autonomous driving behaviors and a better representation of varied safety perceptions among users. Although not universally applicable, it shows a trend where enhanced subjective safety perception may positively affect objective safety measures. Future work will focus on refining the algorithm’s synthetic analysis capabilities to incorporate a broader array of driving data, aiming to fulfill human safety needs more precisely and comprehensively.
