Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a remote sensing technology that uses microwaves to generate high-resolution images of the earth's surface. Polarimetric SAR (PolSAR), which incorporates polarization information, allows for the observation of the earth's surface characteristics and conditions. PolSAR has been advancing in various applications, including agricultural analysis, disaster management, and deforestation monitoring. As the volume of PolSAR data increases, there is a need for methods to interpret spatiotemporal information. This paper proposes Quaternion reservoir computing (QRC) for predicting PolSAR spatiotemporal data. We demonstrate that QRC performs better than conventional real-valued reservoir computing in the context of anomaly detection in a seasonally dependent rural area. This finding suggests that our QRC is adept at detecting surface changes while considering seasonality. Our methods are applicable to vast areas including disaster monitoring and environmental assessment.
