Abstract(in English) | The feeder link between the fixed ground station and the HAPS requires high capacity to accommodate the traffic of terminals in the service area. Considering the directional change between transmission and reception during HAPS movement, LoS-MIMO transmission with uniform cross array is effective in improving channel capacity. Millimetre-wave bands such as 39 GHz have been identified as the allocated frequencies for HAPS communication systems, and considering that HAPS circles 20 km above the ground, propagation loss is high, so it is necessary to use high-gain antennas to ensure the desired SNR. However, a larger antenna gain results in a narrower beamwidth, which requires estimation of the direction of arrival (DoA) of the signal and beam tracking to the moving HAPS. The array signal processing that realises DoA estimation requires element spacing to be smaller than half a wavelength, and in LoS-MIMO transmission the element spacing is several hundred wavelengths, which makes it difficult to apply conventional algorithms. Therefore, in this study, a estimation method using Neural Networks is proposed, assuming the use of array antennas with wide element spacing. |
